Street Machines On Display At Annual Show And Shine

Wollongong Street Machines car club is gearing up for its 15th Annual Show and Shine.
Everything from rotaries, high tech V8's, hotrods, old classics and motorcycles will be on display at Vikings Oval on Sunday October 17."We are expecting anywhere up to 200 cars on the day and there is always a good mix of cars to look at," president of Wollongong Street Machines, Jeff Bell said."The show will include cars and bikes from the Illawarra, Sydney, Southern Highlands, Shoalhaven and the ACT." The show will also feature trade stalls for adults and amusement rides for the kids.Wollongong Street Machine hosts the annual event as a way to raise funds for charity."The club has raised over $30,000 since we commenced our Show and Shine events and the money has been donated to local charities and sporting groups," Mr Bell said."This year all funds will be donated to the coronary care department at Wollongong Hospital." Last year the club was able to donate $500 to the coronary care department and they are hoping to raise even more this year.Wollongong Street Machines was established in 1988 by brothers Rod and Paul Beck; the club is a non-profit organisation catering for all car enthusiasts."Its great to get together with other people who have an interest in cars and it gives people a great reason to get their car out of the garage," Mr Bell said."It is also an opportunity to network and get to know people in the industry."The car club meets on the first Tuesday of the month at Warilla Sports Club at 7.30pm.
